Hey, I'm Maya!
Thanks for stopping by Cozy Kitchen. This is where I share recipes that make your house smell like home and your heart feel a little fuller.
The Kitchen That Raised Me
My childhood was a mix of cultures, flavors, and languages. My grandmother's Egyptian spices filled the air on Sundays. My mom's attempt at "American dinners" happened on weeknights (bless her heart, but her meatloaf needed work). And somehow, in between all of it, I fell in love with the way food could make you feel like you belonged.
I wasn't the kid who had cooking talent oozing out of her pores. I burned rice. I over-salted pasta. I once made cookies so flat they looked like crackers. But something kept pulling me back to the stove. Maybe it was the way my dad's face lit up when I'd make his coffee just right. Or how my little brother would actually sit still at the table if I made his favorite garlic bread.
Food wasn't just food in our house. It was love in a language everyone understood.

The Quarter-Life Crisis That Led Me Here
After college, I did the "responsible" thing. Got a marketing job. Wore business casual. Sat in meetings about synergy and quarterly projections. And felt absolutely empty.
Every Sunday, I'd spend hours in my tiny apartment kitchen, making elaborate meals just for myself. My friends thought I was crazy. "Who makes coq au vin on a random Tuesday?" they'd ask. But those hours cooking? That was the only time I felt like myself.
Then one day, my mom called and said, "You know, you talk more about last night's dinner than your actual job." She wasn't wrong. I was living for the weekends when I could experiment with new recipes, invite friends over, and watch their faces light up over a meal I'd made.
So I made a decision that terrified me: I quit. Packed up my desk, said goodbye to the steady paycheck, and decided to bet on myself and this crazy dream of creating something meaningful around food.

What Cozy Kitchen Really Means
Here's the thing—I'm not a professionally trained chef. I don't have a culinary degree hanging on my wall. What I have is years of trial and error, burns and cuts, failures and triumphs, all happening in regular home kitchens just like yours.
I've learned that the best recipes aren't always the fanciest ones. They're the ones that make you feel something. The ones that remind you of someone you love. The ones that turn a regular Wednesday into something special.
Cozy Kitchen is my way of sharing that feeling with you.
What You'll Find Here
Recipes that feel like home – Whether you grew up on these dishes or you're discovering them for the first time, everything here is made to comfort, nourish, and bring people together.
Honest cooking guidance – I'll tell you when something's tricky, when you can take shortcuts, and when it's totally fine if your dish doesn't look Instagram-perfect.
Stories that matter – Because every recipe has a story, and sometimes the story is just as nourishing as the food itself.
A judgment-free zone – Burned the onions? We've all been there. Forgot you were boiling water? Same. This is a space where we learn together.
My Cooking Philosophy
I believe that anyone can cook, and cook well, if they have clear instructions and a little encouragement. You don't need fancy equipment or expensive ingredients. You need curiosity, patience, and a willingness to taste as you go.
I test every single recipe multiple times before sharing it here because I know what it feels like to follow a recipe that doesn't work. It's frustrating and discouraging, and I never want you to feel that way in your own kitchen.
Every recipe includes the little details that make a difference—the ones I wish someone had told me when I was starting out.
Let's Cook Together
Cozy Kitchen isn't just my blog. It's ours. It's a place where we celebrate the small victories (you made your first sourdough!), laugh at the disasters (RIP to that burnt lasagna), and share the joy that comes from creating something with your own two hands.
Whether you're cooking for your family, meal-prepping for the week, or just trying to figure out what to do with that random vegetable in your fridge—I'm here for it. And I'm here for you.
So pour yourself something warm, tie on your favorite apron (or don't—I usually forget mine), and let's make something delicious.
Your kitchen is about to get a whole lot cozier.
With love and a dusting of flour,
Maya
