Ingredients
For the Batter
- 1 box Krusteaz Almond Poppyseed Supreme Muffin Mix (or any similar muffin mix)
- 1 cup Water (milk can be substituted for a creamier texture)
- 1 large Egg (can substitute with flax egg for vegan option)
For the Mix-ins
- 1 can Cherry Pie Filling (fresh or frozen cherries can be used as an alternative)
Instructions
- Prepare the Batter: In a large bowl, combine the Krusteaz Almond Poppyseed Supreme Muffin Mix with water and the egg. Gently mix until the ingredients are just moistened to avoid overmixing which can toughen the bread.
- Add Poppy Seeds: Fold in the poppy seeds included in the muffin mix packet to ensure they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Fill the Loaf Pan: Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan, smoothing out the top evenly with a spatula.
- Incorporate Cherry Pie Filling: Spoon the cherry pie filling on top of the batter. Using a knife, gently swirl the filling into the batter to create a marbled effect without fully mixing it in.
- Bake the Bread: Place the loaf pan into a preheated oven and bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the Bread: Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely for about 30 minutes.
- Serve: Once fully cooled, slice the quick bread and serve with butter or cream cheese as desired for an extra tasty touch.
Notes
- You can substitute water with milk for a richer, creamier flavor.
- A flax egg can be used as a vegan substitute for the large egg.
- Fresh or frozen cherries can replace cherry pie filling if preferred, but adjust sweetness accordingly.
- Do not overmix the batter to maintain a tender crumb texture.
- Ensure the bread is completely cool before slicing to prevent crumbling.
