Ingredients
Cheese
- 1 wheel brie cheese (8 ounces)
Toppings
- 2 tablespoons fig jam (or your preferred jam flavor)
- 6 Ritz crackers, crushed into crumbs
- 1 ½ teaspoons salted butter, melted
- Fresh thyme leaves (optional)
- Flaky sea salt (optional)
For Serving
- Ritz crackers
- Fresh toasted baguette
- Fresh fruit such as apples and grapes
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the brie.
- Prepare the Brie: Unwrap the wheel of brie cheese and place it in a small oven-safe baking dish. A 6.5-inch cast iron skillet is ideal, but any oven-safe dish will work.
- Add Jam: Spread 2 tablespoons of your preferred jam, such as fig jam, evenly over the top of the brie cheese.
- Make Topping: In a small bowl, combine the crushed Ritz crackers with 1 ½ teaspoons of melted salted butter. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the layer of jam on the brie.
- Bake: Place the dish with the brie in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the topping is golden and bubbly.
- Garnish: If desired, sprinkle the baked brie with fresh thyme leaves and a pinch of flaky sea salt to enhance the flavors.
- Serve: Serve the baked brie warm with extra Ritz crackers, toasted baguette, and fresh fruit like apples and grapes for dipping and pairing.
Notes
- You can substitute fig jam with any jam flavor you prefer, such as apricot or raspberry.
- If you don't have a cast iron skillet, any small oven-safe dish will work fine.
- Fresh thyme and flaky sea salt add a nice finishing touch but are optional.
- Serve immediately for the best melty texture.
- This appetizer pairs well with white wine or sparkling wine.
