Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Pink Lady)
- 8 slices prosciutto, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons honey (raw or hot honey preferred)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter (for brushing apples)
Optional Ingredients
- 2 ounces goat cheese or brie (for creamy variation)
- Fresh rosemary or thyme, finely chopped (for garnish)
- Crushed walnuts or pecans (for added crunch)
- Drizzle of balsamic glaze (for tangy finish)
Instructions
- Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and clean and oil the grates well to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Apples: Slice the apples into wedges or rounds about ¼ to ½ inch thick, removing the core but keeping the peel for texture and structure.
- Brush Apples: Lightly brush both sides of the apple slices with olive oil or melted butter to enhance grilling and prevent sticking.
- Grill Apples: Place the apple slices on the grill and cook for about 2–3 minutes per side, until grill marks appear and the apples are tender but still hold their shape.
- Add Prosciutto: Wrap or place prosciutto slices on top of the grilled apples. For crispier prosciutto, grill it separately for 1–2 minutes before assembling.
- Drizzle Honey and Garnish: Drizzle honey over the assembled apples and prosciutto right before serving. Optionally, add chopped herbs, cheese, nuts, or a balsamic glaze drizzle to enhance flavor and texture.
Notes
- Choose apples that hold up well on the grill, such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Pink Lady.
- Use thinly sliced prosciutto for easy wrapping and quick grilling.
- Optional toppings like goat cheese, fresh herbs, nuts, and balsamic glaze elevate the dish's complexity.
- Monitor apples closely to avoid overcooking and losing their firm texture.
- This dish can be served warm or at room temperature, making it versatile for different occasions.
