Homemade Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups combine creamy peanut butter, ground graham crackers, powdered sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt for a perfectly sweet and slightly crunchy filling, all wrapped in a smooth coating of melted chocolate. These decadent treats are easy to make at home with a simple no-bake process requiring only a few ingredients and a little patience in the refrigerator.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 12 peanut butter cups

Ingredients

Filling

  • ⅔ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup graham cracker crumbs
  • ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt (optional)

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 12-oz. bag chocolate chips (milk or semisweet)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Graham Cracker Crumbs: Process the graham crackers in a food processor until they are finely ground to create the crumbs needed for the filling.
  2. Make the Peanut Butter Filling: In a large bowl, mix together the creamy peanut butter, powdered sugar, graham cracker crumbs, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt (if using) until well combined and smooth.
  3. Melt the Chocolate: Place the chocolate chips in a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl. Melt the chocolate in the microwave for 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds to ensure even melting and prevent burning.
  4. Assemble the Cups - Bottom Chocolate Layer: Line a 12-cup muffin tray with cupcake liners. Spoon ½ tablespoon of melted chocolate into the bottom of each liner. Use the back of a spoon or brush to spread the chocolate evenly, covering the entire bottom of each liner.
  5. Add Peanut Butter Filling: Place about 1 tablespoon of the peanut butter filling on top of the chocolate base in each cup. Spread it into a circle and gently press it down to slightly embed it into the chocolate layer below.
  6. Top with Chocolate: Spoon another ½ tablespoon of melted chocolate over the peanut butter layer in each cup. Smooth the tops so that the chocolate completely covers the peanut butter filling.
  7. Chill to Set: Refrigerate the assembled peanut butter cups for 1 to 2 hours, or until the chocolate is fully hardened and set. Once firm, the peanut butter cups are ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • Using creamy peanut butter ensures a smooth filling that blends well with the powdered sugar and graham cracker crumbs.
  • For a crunchier texture, you can lightly toast the graham crackers before grinding.
  • Milk or semisweet chocolate chips both work well, choose based on your preferred sweetness level.
  • If the melted chocolate starts to harden while assembling, gently reheat it for a few seconds to keep it workable.
  • Store the peanut butter cups in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them firm.
