Ingredients
Cheese and Dairy
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
Vegetables and Condiments
- 4 oz pimento peppers, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
Seasonings
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
Optional
- 2 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1 box crackers or toasted baguette slices for serving
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix the shredded sharp cheddar, softened cream cheese, drained and rinsed pimento peppers, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, kosher salt, and white pepper by hand or with a hand mixer just until combined. Avoid using a food processor to maintain texture.
- Refrigerate: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the pimento cheese mixture for at least 1 hour to let the flavors meld and to firm up slightly before serving.
- Serve: Spread the chilled pimento cheese on crackers or toasted baguette slices. Optionally, sprinkle the crumbled cooked bacon on top for added flavor.
- Store Leftovers: Transfer any leftover pimento cheese to an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- Rinsing and draining the pimentos is essential to preserve the cheese spread’s vibrant color and authentic flavor.
- For a traditional Southern taste, use Duke’s Real Mayonnaise.
- Nutritional information provided applies to the pimento cheese mixture only and excludes serving accompaniments like crackers or baguette slices.
